The brake pads and rotors on my Forester are as old as the car and am thinking replacing them all, the rotors had been re-surfaced once about 7 years ago. Just for usual highway runs.

Supercheap auto is doing discount on Bosch rotors: Front and Rear - has anyone got experience on them (I searched on the web and general comment is they are ok cheap rotors)

Or do you prefer Bendix or DBA, the DBA rear OEM one is solid though.

My Impreza was 245,000 kms and 17+ years old when I sold it.

Never had or needed anything other than brake pads.

Is there anything actually wrong with your brakes?

I just feel that it could be more "immediate" to stop when I press the brake, and the passenger side rotor which is the worst and has "rolls" of colors20210522_173716a.jpg

Definitely new pads... it was skimmed before but will try to measure if it's still ok to skim...

Unless the rotors are absolutely knackered, and yours do not appear to be even slightly that way, they only take a thou or so off the surfaces. Just enough to square them up.

The brake fluid should be changed regularly as well. Usually every 12 months because it's hygroscopic

Yes...that's on the agenda as well. The current fluid looks old.
Changed the front pads last Sunday - feeling better response already. Will deal with the rest this weekend.

All done with much better stopping power :giggle:
