So another "I gone and done it" style post. Just sharing my experience in case anyone else is in a similar situation.
A couple of weekends ago I fitted my 1.5" SLO lift kit to my SJ Foz.
For a newbie like me, the included instructions were the bare minimum to get me to "job done". EG I missed stuff like putting the lock washers on the some of the bolts cause the instructions didn't tell me to do that. Like I said, total newbie.
At the other end of the spectrum the instructions were probably way too detailed for someone who does this as their day job and knows what's what.
I found resources like this really helpful. Step by step showing basically the whole process.
I was quoted anywhere between $800 and a day in the shop to $1500-$2000 and a few days for local mechanics to do the installation. That didn't seem to equal what I understood the job to involve hence why I tried it myself.
All up I reckon it took me about 4 hours with basic hand tools and a lift borrowed from a neighbour. Totally worth it.
I took a few photos of key moments of the installation (like lowering the subframe) but it's too painful to resize images from my mobile to upload them here.
The kit included everything I needed, clear enough instructions and was relatively straightforward to get done.
If you're sitting on the fence about doing it yourself definitely jump in and give it a go. You'll love the 'lifted lyfe'.
Cheers
