Rang Lucas Engineering. Roo2 goes in for fix next Tuesday. Worst case is about $500 ish.

Also priced head gaskets and timing belt for the SH. Approx $2,200 the lot.

Fixing the window is a bugger of a job - having done it once I'd probably pay someone else to do it as well!

I'd like to have the choice, but there's just no way I can do this sort of thing now, Kevin :( .

I'm not yet, but am planning on it. :)

Are you guys all that old ?!
It's not so much my age (73), it's the fact that almost everything is buggered - heart, guts, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis. I could go on ...

Getting old ain't for sissies, let me tell you! 😱 😤

As Mick sang 55 years ago - "what a pain it is growing old..."
Me (77) - heart, guts, sciatica, arthritis, cross-eyed, and now MCI. And grumpy. Oh, and they've taken my licence away until I can pass a 'Fitness to Drive' test.

My sincere condolences, @grump.

With the 'Fitness to drive test', they specifically look for: use of indicators and not even slightly overshooting stop lines at lights, etc. Use of rear vision mirror is also carefully observed. These along with all the other bits. It's worth downloading and studying the booklet for Doctors.

Thanks for the heads up @Ratbag.
Because of the last 2 things I thought it wise to get a Fitness to Drive test just to be sure. As part of the process they cancelled my full licence and gave me one that only makes it legal for me to drive a dual control car with an Occupational Therapist/Assessor. I don't mind really.

@grump, my brother has a brain tumour and has had two strokes (Queensland) . After 6 months they gave him his licence back. Just FYI.

Well, folks.

New switch block and motor fitted. Everything lubricated. Works fine ... :D.

The switch block is after-market, and doesn't do the auto open/close. Apparently, this is the thing that overloads the motor, causing it to burn out.

All up cost $495, over half of this for the switch block ...
