Driving around with family last night to look at Christmas lights; me in the back seat with 3 1/2 YO Grandson each making comments as we see each display. Upon encountering a very well-lit up house I say to him “Wow, I’ve never seen so many lights in all my life!” and I get the response “I know you haven’t, that’s why we’re showing you now!” :D

Merry Christmas!

'Out of the mouths of babes", as they say Kevin.

We took our daughter and the 2 x Grandsons to Seaworld to swim with the dolphins last month for her birthday.
My wife had the money out on the bed, she was double checking the amount when the youngest Grandson (8) said, "How much is that Nan - $100?"
My wife replied with the exact amount $????, he then asked who was coming. My wife told him that there would be him - his mother - brother and Nan, possibly Dah (me) as I wasn't sure I wanted to go in the pool with the dolphins. Grandson looked at me and said "if she is paying that amount of money, you are going" and he was dead serious. Wife & I split our sides laughing.
:lol1:

Note:
For anybody else thinking of visiting Seaworld, IMO save your money.
It looks tired and run down, the price of food is off this planet. A hamburger consisting of an Angus beef pattie - slice of cheese and BBQ sauce on an unbuttered roll and a handful of overly salted chips will set you back $23.00. A hot dog on an unbuttered roll with cheese and a couple of cubes of diced bacon and a handful of overly salted chips will cost you $19.00.
Some attractions were closed as were some of the rides.
I thought that they would have taken the opportunity of the Covid lockdown to give the place a lick of paint and brighten the place up ready for when the borders re-opened, nope! hence the tired look.

And many happy returns of the day to you and yours, Kevin.

And to all here as well.

Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Hopefully 2022 sees Clovid’s butt finally kicked into the history books!

Cheers

Bennie

Merry Christmas to all Members.
Apologies for the late greeting, I just got home today from 5 days in Port Douglas  with the family.

We flew to Cairns with Qantas as we had to use up our credit vouchers before 31 Dec 2021, courtesy of last years cancelled trip to the snow in Victoria.
There way no way in hell we were crossing Qld - NSW or any other border for that matter, with Covid 19 running amok. What really took us by surprise was the number of people walking around Port Douglas with no mask on or even bothering to check into shops etc. using the QR code, it was both tourists & locals alike.
We hired an 8 x seater Kia Carnival for 4 adults and 2 kids (11 & 9) for the drive to Port Douglas. Boy, was that thing was a slug off the line! It drank fuel like it was Bourbon & Coke :ROFLMAO:, the best I saw was 11L/100k, and that was short lived too. The remainder of the time it was up around 12 - 13L/100k. Cost $102.30 (1.649cpl) to fill it with 91RON yesterday at Smithfield north of Cairns and then another $20.00 worth upon return for 119kms (Smithfield - Port Douglas - Cairns Airport).

No place like home though! (y):Bananacomputer:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

@Ratbag well "42" is the answer to life the universe and everything :p
30 predicted here today; 32 tomorrow

And to you and yours, Kevin.

BTW, 9 x 6 = 42, but only in base 13 ...

42°C here today ...
41.4°C yesterday, 41.2°C today... watched a few snow videos on YouTube, that helped keep a little cooler

Happy New Year and all the best for 2022!

Cheers

Bennie

Belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all you dirt-lovers! Apologies for the late greeting as we are being flooded by acquaintances at the moment.

It's only 26 degC here but the UV index is at 11. Humidity is high as always but I am used to that now.

The things ppl notice when times aren’t so good. 2019 should’ve ended this way I reckon.

Apparently the old no bark and no bite Y2K bug finally did something a bit drastic!

Hearing news of the Y2K bug was a blast from the past!

Cheers

Bennie

^ indeed a blast from the past. I had Y2K compliance oversight for all products in AsiaPac/Japan sold by the company I worked for at the time which included banking, financial, manufacturing, Library systems etc - a very very busy time in my life!
