So i was thinking . Since i am going to install the snorkel, I was wonder if it would be possible for create a bracket or cradle for a battery to place where the first airbox was. Surely this would be possible as the intake hose would run over the top of the battery or around it. What are others thoughts on this?

I've seen it done in a 98 SF as they don't have ABS, so there isn't a ABS pump and associated components in the way. You could potentially fit one in there, however it will come down to wether there is enough room to safely secure the battery

Much easier to have a "battery in a bag" strapped down in the rear passenger foot-well ;-) Can be easily removed when not in use. You are going to have to run cables off the aux battery anyway so just install a Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR) in the engine bay and run a 6 or 4 gauge cable through the firewall, along the transmission tunnel to pop out under the front passenger seat and then connect to the aux battery with Anderson plugs; then take your power feeds under the rear seat and into the luggage area for fridge etc. I have a 100 amp-hour deep cycle battery in a heavy canvas tool bag set up this way. If you want to get fancy and connect a solar panel then I recommend the use of a CTEK DC-DC charger instead of the VSR.

Sounds like take it to the auto elec to me :p
