Hi, I recently upgraded my Impreza with Forester struts and 2” trailing arm spacers and a set of yokohama geo landers 205/75/15’s. All other components were left stock. My front axles died yesterday - both upper boots came apart. I’m thinking this could just be coincidence, but probably not. Is there something more I need to do to make the conversion complete?

G'day & Welcome @Newchadman

So it was the inner boots? How old were they? If old they probably didn't like the change in angle.

They are the axles that came on the car. I’ve owned it for 4 years

And yeah, it’s the inner boots

Replace with quality boots and go again. Monitor them.

What you don’t want is clicking joints, this indicates worn joints. They can go for a long time like this, but with a torn boot they won’t last long as dirt and other grime get in there and work like grinding paste.

Cheers

Bennie

Normal thing. Guys here have same stuff to deal with lifted imprezas. Proper oem axles and boots will still hold better then cheap aftermarket stuff.
You need to think its as part of lift you will deal with those more often now .

Really weird stuff. Ordered new axles for the TS and they wouldn’t work. Somehow mine is set up for RS axles... all back together and back on the road.
