Sorry fairly simple question.

I am going to replace the front and back brake pads on my SJ 2016 Foreseter 2.5i CVT. I went to supercheap auto to get the pads. For the front pads they gave me two options. DB1491CAL and another spec. When i questioned them on which is correct, they said they were not sure...

Can i choice either or? Any advice?

I personally like to use OEM pads on my cars. Good service life, and no nasty surprises. Brakes are just too important to muck around with unless you know exactly what you are about.
Same goes for windscreen wiper blades ...

Great point! Im going to try and do it this weekend. I'll try to get the OEM parts... maybe from the subaru mechanic shop.

maybew they just had those 2 sizes on same gen car same as i have on mine, both brakes pads can be larger or smaller on mine so you must know what size fits you if thats the case, if not then just look in better shop.
we using here all aftermarket pads and such for years and years on subarus and they hold just fine. most times i have like choose from 3-4 makers of pads what i want to pick.
i like this site if not for buying but just to learn what models fit what and what oem codes are. and i was used some of those makers myself , they fine pads does the job just fine

thanks Scalman

For most vehicles Super cheap will give you two parts
-Bendix made "Calibre" in house brand
-Bendix option

For everyday use they are practically identical, Subaru OEM is an option

Some models in each of vehicle will also have two other bendix options
-Sport (slightly different par number) more grip better heat distribution, waste of money unless you track race or drive like a hoon constantly
-4WD/offroad pads, better wet, shed grime better, weight class of a subaru sort of a waste of money (more likely to warp rotors than need more pad grip)

I've always used standard bendix pads, in all my vehicles. Go some sort of name brand the cheapest no name is genuine crap, OEM in this case is just more expensive, Bendix meets all ADR/exceeds all ADR standards and is as good at OEM. I'm not sure how calibre SCA pads differ to make them cheaper, my hunch would be exclusive supply contracts and quantity of sale, personally never used them.

I've used TRW Lucas pads (+DBA slotted rotors) for many years and very happy with them.

depends where you live . im using cheap ceramic pads on front that i like . those cheap one made in europe mostly not china made at least here. ceramic where better then normal ones, less dust on rims too.

You always have to be careful that the pads are not harder than the discs ...

With our Camry that was the case with the OEM pads! Both discs and pads had to be replaced. Big dollars!

on the topic of brake pads does anyone know whats up with the bendix 4x4 pads. Are they even worth it??
