Sooo it was an interesting fun and abit of a tear day at one part
Went out to get myself some proper recovery gear, just went to BCF and picked up XTM compressor and recovery kit as well some tracks then went to Aussie disposals and picked up some maps. A pretty good start to the morning.
From there i headed out to Macedon where i heard of this track that was rated medium, so i decided to give it a crack. The track was muddy and still wet from the rains we have been having recently. First hill i come up too i didnt give it a enough and slid back down but it wasnt difficult at all and made it up easily on the 2nd attempt. The next hill was when it got real. on my 7th attempt i got 3/4 of the way up, but my tires for whatever reason, probably filled with mud, couldnt not grip the log i was stuck on. I slid all the way back down for the 7th time, mind you ever one of these times it was scary but i remembered the hold hand brake trick. I didnt want this hill to beat me but i shouldve known better by now. I decided to give it one more go. Lined my self up out of the runs and went for it. I dont even get half way this time and the rear left slips and falls into the rutt and the car angles it self 45 degrees to the right, i am now facing an embankment, and in the split second the rear left grips the rutt and launches forward into the embankment. I damaged the front bar and the fender but thankfully that was all. So i turn all the way around and go down another track that was easier on the old girl and at least didnt go all the way back to the start.
After about 30-45 minutes of fiddling around with the air compressor and teaching myself how to use it properly im off to Lerderdergs 4WD training park. I get there and drive around the more easier tracks as im still sad and lil shaken up from Macedon. I enjoyed it as there was some not deep puddles and not some steep inclines to go up. I met up with an older couple at the end of this lil trek and then they took my down blue gum track down to the campsite and then down to o'briens crossing. That type of offroading was abit more my thing and actually reboosted my confidence in myself and the car. I learnt abit yesterday and i wont forget it. Im going to the Grampians next weekend for the long weekend and meeting up with some other Subies as well, i hear the tracks there arent to hard either and look forward to it
