So ive just noticed i got some coolant pooling the whole way along the top part of the radiator, where the plastic part meets the metal grill part. Soo where am i going to buy a new one??

Sterlingparts.com.au gonna sting me $200 and probably delivery as well where as on ebay i can get them for just under $100

Whats the go here??

@Ser_Egg If you intend keeping the car for several years I suggest getting an all metal radiator e.g. Mishimoto or similar - will cost much more but will last a lot longer.

I do not know where to get cheap radiators but I guess that's where Google is your friend :)

i found some $200 aluminium radiators but i dont know what the difference between turbo and NA radiators if there even is any

Are you sure it's coming from the plastic/metal join?

When I had this, it turned out to be a dodgy overflow tank clamp leaking.

Just a thought.

Just bought a $250 full aluminium radiator off ebay. See how long it lasts and if these things are actually worth it instead of spending like $500, ILL TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM!!!

Don’t go for an eBay radiator - you get what you pay for! I had one in my L series. It was about 18 months old when three channels in the top of the radiator let go and lost a lot of coolant on a remote WA corrugated road. The engine got pretty hot and we managed to limp the last 300km to our destination with regular stops to top up the coolant level.

Unless you know they’re a reputable source, don’t buy the $100 radiator, it’ll cost you so much more down the track!

Turbo radiators tend not to have the filler neck and cap on the radiator - turbo engines have the remote mounted header tank on the RHS of the engine (vehicle’s RHS!). I think there’s a small pipe fitting near the top main inlet too.

welll i didnt buy the $100 i instead bought the $250 one so ill tell you how it goes in a months time perhaps haha

So i changed my mind and got a normal radiator from sterlingparts but i fear we may still have the same issue. Looks like mishimoto gonna get another $500

They'll probably be getting that from me too soon.
Do they actually make one compatible for an N/A motor though? or do you weld a filler onto it?

edit: Oh! they do have fillers on them I thought they didn't. <scratches head>

I remember seeing an Aussie manufacturer of alloy radiators on eBay with relatively good welds. I can't find it at the moment as probably the listing has expired. They are significantly more expensive than the ones made in the east but I have been reading a lot of engineering journals regarding quality control issues.

JDM alloy ones are really good but the procurement is the challenge.

Or just oem one from scrapyard thats what i gonna buy but first gonna check proper if this isnt fixiable.
