Hi!
This is the situation about my Mr.Forry SG rear with SLS .
There is a difference betwen left & right height.
Maybe the spring or the strut?

Thanks all :sadbanana:

Check all springs front and rear. If front broke then rear will change height too. Or maybe just old springs. I love my SLS in rear.

SLS shocks are prone to sag when a leak occurs (internal or external). SLS springs have a spring rate of 15 N/mm only because half the weight is taken by the SLS.

Now you have to change both your rear struts (shocks and springs) for non SLS because if you want to replace them with new SLS struts, it is very, very expensive.....

first you need to find out whos fault that is . on my 2001 where SLS and they where oem not changed not touched and with lift they worked amazing , i duno they can brake , you need to looks at springs , could be just top ring broke and you can not see it at first even, so look properly. again if front spring brake , rear height will change too i had that on 2001.

Well worth the effort, rather than just swapping out the SLS.
From the very little I know, SLS failure is pretty common. I see it quite a lot on SG foresters around Cairns.
There also seems to be more of them on the road up here in the last little while, Subarus are quite popular with the backpackers and more and more of them are getting around with rooftop tents.

Your self levelling suspension is dead ...

When my SLS shat itself, both sides went at the same time.

That's why I changed over to the Pedders variable rate heavy duty units.

Don't forget to have a wheel alignment (all four wheels) after doing the struts.

@eldi I had one SLS fail when the vehicle was just 3 years old during a trip on Cape York so I too suspect your SLS has failed.

Hi guys!
Thanks so much for your advices!!!!

And YES....my rear left SLS has failed, the spring it's ok but the shock is down, not oil outside but only down.

At this point i have to change all the two rear struts, maybe others original SLS suspensions. Yes guys....i know that the SLS are much expensive but my need is exactly what SLS do...stability on the road and possibility to do a soft off-road when needed. For others 15 years my Mr. Forry could be ok.

@eldi, that's exactly what the Pedders give me over the SLS - better handling and stability (and ride) on road, no height change (or handling change) whether loaded or not, far better off road.

If the rear right had failed, I have a spare .....but no rear left, sorry !

just put new normal struts KYB or Pedders i would go for KYB. Pedders kinda outside look goes bad in short time if you have winters and such on roads. , man they will be new and will handle great. can put harder springs if you want to keep that rear on height there are options there.
problems if you will change just one SLS, so you not sure are they both on same like state maybe one will be then better then other and again it wont be good .

@jf1sf5 thank you so much but the bad shock is the left side and i go to change left & right shoks o_O:cool: with a new set of original SLS Suby.
New Life to my Mr. Forry

@scalman yes KYB are a good shoks, i think ti mount KYB on the front but at the rear i'm going to mount a new set of SLS.

About the harder springs i think to go down with the comfort level on the road, also for this reason i've decided to mount SLS, another reason Is that in Italy ther's a low offer about these type of springs for Subaru, there are only standard rear KYB springs.

SLS is expensive but i think who my Mr. Forry will be happy :ROFLMAO:

@eldi, see my PM. I'm very happy with the Pedders, and it seems that your use is almost identical to mine.

Today i've changed the rear struts with a new set of SLS
Mr. Forry is a new car!!!!
The left shock was exploded and the right blocked on the up & down movement.....

Thanks all for your support and your precious advice :yourock:

Nice i love SLS on mine. Hope they will work still long time.

Thank you @scalman!
Yesss...the sensation is very good, comfortable!
me too i hope on a long time of off-road work 😂🤪🥳;)
