So my old Maxxis 751's are pretty much worn out and they don't make those in a 27" any more. Having a look at whats around it seems like the options are pretty slim!

Nankang FT-7
Kumho KL-71
Achilles Desert Hawk XMT

Both the Kumho and Achilles are pretty aggressive M/T pattern and I am not sure I really want that, given I mostly drive on-road. Any other options out there I have missed? If this was a pure fun and offroad vehicle I would get the Kumho but I drive to work 30 minutes in highway traffic twice a week so it makes me nervous about getting an M/T. My previous experience with full M/T on my old hilux was they were pretty diabolical in the wet!

Thanks for the suggestion Kevin, I just had a look but doesn't appear to be anything in 27/8.5/R14

It's a really oddball size unfortunately.

@ratters, among your list, I would choose the Kumho KL-71s as I am not sure about the compounds of the other two, especially Nankang. They are known to slip by themselves on asphalt. I had Achilles sport tyres on my SXV15 Scepter and while they are adequate on wet asphalt, they tend to show signs of wear much more quickly than the top brands.

Based on your list and for me:
  1. Kumho
  2. Achilles
  3. Nankang - not this one please.

Check out Maxxis MA751 or MT754. Beaurepaires stock them.

Furthermore, you can have good retro-ness with those white embossed letters.

Regarding M/Ts, yes, they will be poor in the wet. I haven't encountered one that is decent in the wet yet.

@ABFoz I am currently running the MA751 but unfortunately Maxxis don't do any 27" tyres any more so I am basically stuck with the list I gave earlier, unless something else pops up. I might have to go with the Kumho and hope for the best.

Sorry, @ratters, I completely overlooked your first sentence. Have you tried Beaureparies? Our Beaurepaires still have that Maxxis tyres in that size.
