Hey mates, check out how the drivetrain behaves on this latest gen Outback. It looks like it responds much more quickly than the one on the previous generation. The car even has street tyres.

only way to find out is to compare against previous gens on same tires on same places, well at least compare between gens.
 
What I can see from the video is that the traction control engages much more quickly than the 2019 one, where some wheelspin would be allowed first before that wheel is braked by the traction control. It's probably the reason why there isn't that much engine speed when the vehicle tackles the obstacle when one wheel is up. The same behaviour is observed with the SK Forester.
 
I particularly like how there isn't much engine speed and wheelspin for its VDC to work or kick in. It seems like Subaru pay attention to the owners of their newer models who particularly take the cars off-road.
