Welp... I got the 40mm spacers after 3 days done. (alot of problems, the shock attachment sucks, broke both bolts that clamp the thing around the lower part of the shock)
I am about to back out of garage as I hear *pop pop*.
The CV joints popped out of the transfercase.
Crap.

Any ideas what to do now. I googled something like "2 inch lift cv joints popped out" and most answers said if they arent too hurt they should just go back in and thats it?
Is that really it or will they just come out again?
What do I do now?
And tomorrow I'm supposed to drive 130km to school dorms to settle in for next year of study. :p

And another thing. My stepfather has done offroading and cars related to that for many many years and on his recommendation I cut off the anti-roll bars off, I just had to cut them with a grinder. Any idea how to get the thing completely out? Seems like the band theyre under has the front subframe over it meaning I'd have to remove that to get that out?

Anyway, thanks in advance for answers.

So I took off the protective rubber and half of the cage and the ball bearings around it fell out. So looks like this wont work just by putting it in again.
Oh well, atleast now I get to learn how to change a CV-joint. First time for everything. Luckily I have alot more experienced people helping me out so I should be okay instead of learning everything through the heel as they say. Which is atleast a finnish saying for doing something wrong first time to learn you shouldn't do it like that.

Well, looks like im loaning family members car for moving into dormitory and changing it on the weekend.

What a nuisance! Did you do a body lift or a suspension lift?

G’day mate,

Which end of the cv was the issue - the inner or the outer? Sounds like it had a cracked ball cage.

The L series and MY Subarus don’t take too well to just a strut lift like the later models can. This is mainly due to our smaller track width and shorter drive shafts.

You’re best off fitting a full body lift or subframe drop with the strut spacers. If you go this way and run stock springs you could use a strut lift that’s one inch more than the body lift. But if using heavy duty or “raised” springs you’re best off matching lift height between the strut and body ;)

Nice touch with the fosters! But like Canadians and Canadian Club whiskey, many aussies don’t drink fosters - I reckon you’d be hard pressed to find someone who does!

All the best with getting your L sorted! Awesome machines from the boxy ‘80s!

Cheers
