Fixed with a new starter battery.

I had not encountered nor been aware of this issue before so thought I should add it.

Occasionally the Foz would not lock / unlock using the key remote; more frequent on cold mornings. I replaced the batteries in both my keys but the issue was not resolved.

While I was away on my recent forced "vacation" the battery in the Foz went completely dead and didn't really get back to full CCA after recharging.

I installed a new starter battery and both keys now work without fail.

Thanks Kevin. I'm having the same issue but my crancking battery is less than 2 years old only from RAC.

Will charge the battery to see if this improves or not.

My starter battery was from Oct 2016 and I believe it had sulphated because I forgot to trickle charge it when away for lengthy periods; so my fault. It was so flat on my recent return that the charger would not initially charge it; I had to jump start it and idle for a while to get the voltage up before the charger would work.

I'm not sure what sort of key you have but also check that the metal tabs inside are making good contact behind the buttons etc. Just bend them a little if necessary.

The key fob on my 07XT started not wanting to work on cold mornings up here, (Granted now it's getting colder, most mornings tend to be around 0ºC. Changed the battery in the key fob and haven't had a issue since.

^ yep, that's the usual issue for sure

I have the usual 2 buttons key, and yeah have bend the metal to improve contact.
It's a stormy day in Perth today (warmer) and the remote works totally fine when I pick up the car after work this evening.
I think the starting battery is getting weak and definitely need to recharge again.

I trickle charged the starter battery on the weekend, and no more problem now :)
