sock it to your snorkel?

Based on a recent comment here I thought I would put this up for discussion; to sock your snorkel or not. I used to put an oiled "droopy" in the Foz snorkel in dusty conditions, I also had an oiled filter for a while. They both clogged up very readily. After some research I decided to ditch both.

I don't know about socks, but I've seen those cyclone pre-cleaners drop literally buckets of sand while on the move in a sandstorm.

Yes, I'm thinking of getting that type for the Triton.
