I'm wondering if anyone has wired their fog light to stay on with their high beams just to have more light in the woods. Looks like there is a law that prohibits more than 4 headlights to be on at the same time and that's why it's not an option from the factory.
Found this video on youtube.

I'd like to do the same thing but I have a 2011 Outback and I'm guessing the differences would be too much to do it without looking at a wiring diagram.

My experiences with off-road driving at night have shown me that fog lights and low beam work best. Due to the low speeds and rough road, high beam is a bit of a waste of time except for an occasional flick to check the road ahead. I think you would be better to add some driving lights with a spread rather than a spot so when you do get the chance to speed up a bit they will give you more light closer to the car and to the sides while the high beam looks further ahead.

Depends on your state or national laws. I find a light bar does a good job of lighting up the area near the car a lot better than fog lights. Subaru fog lights were designed by the same bloke who designed the world’s first ashtray for motorcycles.

I'd love to find some decent lights to put in place of the fog lights, haven't found anything yet but haven't looked real hard either.

I run Cibie Oscar SC pods in my 99 wrx. While they are mounted too low to get the most out of them, they make a significant improvement to the lighting. You may need to e creative to mount them

I agree, Rally. Love the ashtray analogy :rotfl:.
