struts maxing out is that problem ?

so with strut spacers in front and without sway bar now struts maxing out if i drive faster to deeper hole or bump . it goes with loud bang , very metal sound . and it sounds bad.
is that because sway bars removed and strut actually want to travel more but its too short so it hits end and thats where loud bang sound. or is it something is just weared shocks itself maybe.
should there be such loud bang sounds when you hit some bump like going in forest and you hit some bump or you drove to hole.
i guess they have more travel up then bottom thats way they dont go down so much and there i have probs. if i keep doing that i might damage shocks , other parts ?

I was getting a loud bang occasionally on my forester, horrible feeling.
Changed the front struts, no more bangs.


It's the holes that develop before and after the concrete bridges over creeks and cattle grids that are the worst for me, because generally those stretches are flatter so I tend to go faster. On the rough stuff I go pretty slow relatively speaking, so not so much a problem.
 
Have a look and see if the lower control arm is hitting the sub-frame as that may be the noise?
 
Sway bars only limit travel on corners, as one side pivots against the other. Not sure what you mean by strut spacers.
 
Ohh the lift spacers. As they on the struts. Sway bar limits your flex no? Is how much your wheel drops down thats all the point to remove them.
 
Sway bars limit articulation, they don’t affect flex as it’s the chassis that flex’s. A good roll cage will reduce flex. As for the noise, check bushes, nuts, bolts etc.
 
hmm my wheels drop down more without sway bars now . for about 5cm more front and some rear too. so how its not affects ? 5cm without grip or +5cm and you got grip and drive away.
to lift car wheel in air with sway bar i need lift it less , now i need to lift car a lot more . so maybe we talking about different things here. or forester suspension there works not same.
and with that more drop they work harder . thats how it think of that at least.
 
Your terminology is incorrect. By removing the sway bar you have improved suspension articulation. Flex is what the body does. If you jack up one part of the body, the door or tailgate might not close properly. This is due to flex, or a lack of body rigidity. I appreciate that English isn’t your first language and understand your confusion. It’s disappointing that those whose first language is English persist in using the incorrect terms. Articulation describes suspension travel, flex describes the twisting of the body.
 
im not confused of anything just because im using maybe wrong words for it . but i think you understood what i ment long time ago. and i know what im getting from removing sway bars very good. some ppl native speakers using flex or travel wrong too so dont beat me here for that.
about bolts and bushings i think i checked them not much them in front there. so its still not a problem if your chock maxing out its travel ? i think they not made for those cars be used as such without sway bars and such and so that they maxing out they "travel".

scalman when you get a loud bang in the suspension, is it with the wheel travelling up or down? Is it worse turning or doesn't matter? There are lots of things that can cause this.

Strut top spacers don't affect suspension travel on MacPherson struts (the front on your BH OB) but does on the rear on multilink rear suspension like yours, that's why you need a rear subframe spacer kit to keep maximum rear suspension travel.

Removing the swaybars does improve articulation but if your suspension is all good that shouldn't cause any noises

suspension travel: how much the wheel moves up & down
suspension droop: how much the wheel drops below resting height
articulation: how much the wheels at the front move up & down compared to the wheels at the rear
flex: (a) another name for articulation (b) amount the body twists (c) what bodybuilders do to show off their muscles :lol:

The reason articulation isn’t flexing is because, well, it isn’t flexing. The same reason we don’t call a door a bumper bar, because it isn’t. Describing something with the wrong term is confusing.
