I don't know either Kevin, hence the question.
I thought CVT in Subaru's was only a recent thing, it certainly wasn't on offer in 2003 when we bought ours Kevin.

The first Forester that had a CVT was the series II SH (MY12?), AFAIK.

In that link on your OP, in the posters Avatar it says he owns a 1998 Forester, then in the actual post he say's "So today I had a code for the cvt valve body. So some pictures from it".

Now he either owns an updated Forester to what is in his avatar or he has somehow transplanted a CVT into the 1998 Forester. I am
