Some thoughts please.
The passenger`s side inner has been knocking for about two years so far. Generally when going around a left hand corner but occasionally straight up slight inclines. The sound does not seem to be worsening and there is no obvious sticking or bumping.
Obviously it is knackered and must fail eventually but how long can it realistically last?
I do carry a spare half shaft in the event of a catastrophe.

How long is a piece of string? ;-) there are too many influencing factors here to make a call. I'd replace it before it leaves you stranded.

Yeah it's hard to know when it will finally go. Chances are at the worst spot while it's hailing & blowing a gale :lol:

I'd replace it now. Has the axle you have ready to go in been rebooted?

Yes spare axle is set up to go straight in.
I certainly will change it before any trips. Not on the radar at present so may just see how it deteriorates over the next months.
Having said that...............
