Another OT trip report. :rolleyessarcastic:

My in-laws were in town from Florida, and my folks live right down the road so all the mom's got treated to a little brunch at this little dive.

Twas an awesome day!!! Thanks to fathers and father in-laws, I caught a glimpse of the check.

Glad you all had a great time. :)

What a magnificent building that Biltmore House is.

The gardens are beautiful & they view, magic. I can only imagine what they must look like in spring, when the flowers are in full bloom.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Regards

It is an incredible place, and we didn't even get inside the house this time. I have been inside before and it's amazing. I think I saw on the web site 4 acres of floor space, our little house could fit in the entry foyer.

Yes, the gardens get pretty amazing they are well on the way, but it's still a bit early. One of the coolest things are the lily pads that grow in the pools, they get up to about 6' (2m) diameter.

You spelt MUM wrong Carl!

That looks like a spectacular area... I think I may have caught the travel bug since my first OS trip...

Cheers

Bennie

I had never heard of the Biltmore before our road trip to the smokies in nov. of '08. Everyone kept talkingg about the place, so we decided to cruse on up to Ashville. I couldnt believe how amazing it was! I didnt actually miind paying the $60 a person fee to get to do the tour inside once we were done. They had all the xmas stuff up and massive trees. The driveway to that place is what, 2 or 3 miles long? Even the McDonalds across the way was top notch! Was def. the highlighht ouf our trip.. i only wish they let you take pictures of the inside. The largest estate in America!

we love their wine too!
Finally started to sell it at one place in TX, just so happened to be in Austin :)
Great pictures

It really is an amazing place, I've been there five or six times and don't really feel like I've seen the whole place. I haven't done it yet, but there is a 'Behind the scenes' tour that I'd really like to take, my father has done it and says it's totally worth it. They even have a Land Rover Off Road Driving Class, which is way too much for my budget, but talk about a job I'd love to have teaching.

The wine is really good too, but not something I indulge in anymore. but :bananatoast:

yeah i remember seeing the flyers for the rover offroading deal, but like you said, it was alot of $$$$! Not sure what tour it was.. I think it may have beenn called the candle light tour since it was at night. Also got to do thee tour of wine cellars & tasting. We didn't make it over to the gardens though because of time :(
If you cut out the wine, their wassel/ wassul...? was really good!

My wife and I visited Biltmore last summer with friends that live in Asheville. It's just HUGE. No other way to describe it. I snapped some pictures looking out at the view from the back porch. If you can call that huge thing a porch!

I'm not a wine drinker, but the beers and ales brewed for Cedric's Tavern on the estate are top notch!

Whenever I hear "Biltmore," I think "Land Rover Driving Experience." :raz:

Now, Prop1 has expanded the images and tastes that this jumbo-size estate's name will conjure up. We'll see how many more years it takes for me to get there -- the estate, the LR off-road course, and the ales.
