So I am driving a 2012 Forester X - and hooray my King Springs have just arrived. Will get to installing them next weekend.
With that in mind, is there anything I should be considering (I'm on a very tight budget) for handling to go in whilst I am putting in the Kings?

At this point my plan is to install the king's and then focus on lighting more than anything else (I am planning on driving the oodnadatta track in Australia + more around the area, but no major 4x4 trails (solo drive) in December/ January).

Any hints on where to spend my limited cash would be great.

Also any Aussies on here, any options other than Subaxtreme re. Sump Guards?
 
Just have your bushes and ball joint/tie rods all checked while the suspension is going in. Replace what needs it.

Handling wise, car will feel stiffer and sharper, but it'll be slower to respond with added body roll.
 
When fitting King springs you really should fit KYB struts as well, they have stiffer valving to match the springs

The Oodnadatta Tr isn't too difficult but still requires a healthy vehicle. Agree with IDW, get all the bushes, ball joints, tie rods/rack ends, CVs, etc checked out by a Subaru specialist mechanic (not a general mechanic)

Not needed for this track, but you could fit a lift kit when the finances allow (PM me for this)

You'll also need a full size spare the same brand, size & type as the other tyres, at least 1x 20L jerry can of fuel & plenty of water. Also bring tools & spare parts like radiator hoses, heater hose, fuel hose, headlight bulbs, fan belts, fuses, cable ties, wire, duct tape, etc
 
Oodnadatta Track will be a tad warm in mid summer. Don`t forget that.
Many interesting sights along there. Especially some strangely parked aircraft......
