Which Garmin Map?

Ok, so Karla (girlfriend, partner in crime, general merrymaker...) bought me a Garmin Etrex Summit HC as a present.

I want to get back into backpacking eventually, but for now I'd really like to use it for offroading. So, the question is, what map should I buy? The topo map? Does the topo map include forest roads and such? Or should I go for the city navigator?

Any help here would be awesome, these maps are NOT cheap.

i did not know Garmin had differnt types of maps, i thought they just had regional maps.

Problem is that he has a gps with no maps at all. So it's useless atm.

Do share! Can't get to SFO from my work computer so don't get obver there much now.

Oh gotcha. Looks like the best option is to get the topo 24k for your area, it's much more detailed than the national 100k. So that's what I'm going for!
