auto shifter light out

My Suby Forester 04 Auto , in the console of the shifter the nightlight is out. Question1; is there suppose to be one?, cause it shows up in the instruments.
Question2; If so, how does one get in and fix it or is it a fuse thing?

Cheers to anyone who has got the knowhow.

My wife has an '03 Forester AT and the only illumination for the shifter is on the dash, seems odd to me, but that is the way it is. They did change it, some friends have an '05 and the shifter console is illuminated.
