The track looks very much like what we have in the high country here except we don't have those trees.

It does better than it's supposed to if you listen to those who say you need a "real" 4x4 to do anything at all.
 
The low center of gravity does count for something!
 
Compliant suspension and a decent 4wd system helps too. Ever notice how Landcruisers and similar trucks bounce over bumps, while Subarus generally keep in contact with the dirt?
