I just placed an order for two Hella 500 driving lights.. I'm curious as to where I should mount them for the maximum amount of light out in front of my car. I'm thinking up on the roof rack? I do a lot of country driving on dark roads.. so I like to see far out in front of me.

If you want to use them for driving lights bumper height. Roof height you will blind to many people. If you want them for fog below bumper. If you want them for off road roof height maybe using the rack.

Thanks nipper you answered my question perfectly. I think I'll have to get more than two for what I want. Maybe some yellows down below for fogs, and two up on the rack for off road/out in the woods camping. I decided my brights do a good enough job of lighting up the road by themselves, I just needed to aim them up a bit.

They do have a great wide pattern. This is the 2nd set on Blu, but they will blind people if they arent aimed correctly.

That's no good. I've never hit one.. but had a few close calls out by my house. Just about makes your heart jump out of your chest when they just dart right out in front of your car. One of the many reasons I want more light. Glad you're (I'm assuming) ok.

Unfortunitly i never got that chance to process it. It was a dark and story might where the highway went through a cut in a hill. All i saw was a brown thing and 3800.00 in damages.

I think deer are made of flubber as all they seem to do is bounce. The fact that Blu was lifted helped keep him out of the windshield

Yeah I'd rather if you hit one, they instantly explode. I'd much rather clean guts off my hood than have to replace it. Maybe I'll talk to the National Forest Service and see what they can do for us. :-D Though I'm not sure how much PETA would care for the idea...
