I am currently installing a reverse camera and since I have to tap into the reverse light power I thought I would also add an extra reverse light. It won't be anything very bright, maybe a slimline ebay spec LED . It would be connected in parallel and not separately switched.
What is the legality of adding this extra light that is not separately switched?

I seem to recall reading that this sort of light is not legal, but cannot recall the details.

I think it was prescribed in one of the VSBs??

Looks like a pretty small light, just do it.

I remember a buddy who hard wired a huge narva spotlight for reversing his hilux, one night run to Fraser we were first on the barge but when it came time to reverse off he blinded about 20 other vehicles. Switched is better for serious lights.

I'm going to use a couple of eagle-eye LEDs for a stealth install between the towbar and bumper. These pack a nice punch for such a compact bulb.

Hooked 1 up to test , it's as bright as the stock halogen reverse lights. Going to upgrade those to LEDs too

I have a LED spottie ( a 10W one) mounted on my bike carrier because when it and the bikes are on they block my reversing lights ( not handy if you are out on a night ride and have to reverse in a bush carpark). Not on the car otherwise though.
