Hello all,
Had the 07 forester for about a year now and looking to do some upgrades. looking to go up to 215/65r16 as I am limited to rasing due to pod height and partner transferring in and out and guessing these still fit the spare wheel slot.

Not done much offloading and due for a new set.
Was looking at the Goodyear wrangler HP all weather due to cost.

Has anyone given these a go?
Did not want to outlay $250 plus a tyre atm.
Cheers for any replies.

Goodyear? Rather you than me. Where do you plan on taking your car?

Lol yeah I know just trying to do on a budget and we all know how that ends up....
Not looking at anything to much. Probably atm will only be seeing limited dirt roads and farmlands.
Would not mind seeing the trails at Lithgow etc but nothing to major as can't risk vehicle being off the road due to damage.

Yokohama has a special through Bob Jane at the moment buy 3 get 4. In Victoria at least. I would recommend the Geolander ATS.

Car will be fine as is then, you won't need anything special. Except for the sump guard as mentioned elsewhere. In the mean time, just be careful. I've taken my car to some reasonably tough places for a Forester without damage. Once set up, you'd have to go out of your way to damage the car.

Yeah was looking at them about 1k for 5 though.
Others were around 130 a tyre.

Just not think I can justify the cost vs actual off-road use. Was looking to get a compromise.

Just get some good road tyres in the standard size. I'm still running road tyres and they've never let me down.

will the 215/65r16 fit in the spare tyre well??

Dunno. Never had that size tyre. Anyone else?

No, it won't.

Not without 'persuasion' or deflation.

My towbar anchorages won't allow the first, and I don't want to travel with a partially deflated spare ...

Awesome that takes care of it then. Will stick to standards and look for a reasonable tyre.
Maybe put some money into suspension as rear looking a little saggy unloaded

Went to wack some air in after reading the 36psi recommendation on the forums.
Found they were all sitting on 25/26psi.
Been going off inspection plate recommendations and been using a servo 'Auto' air nearby work.
Normally will do that about once a month.
I should have used my independent tyre gauge....
Maybe I would have some more shoulder on my left side if I did :(

Any ways will try and hunt around for some prices. So far there is not much around with a decent tread pattern in the standard size.
Was not happy with the toyo TEO Plus in the wet...

Under inflation will have both inner and outer edges wearing. Outside wear is indicative of poor alignment. Either toe in or not enough neg camber or too much hooning! I run Bridgestone RE-002's, which are now no longer available. They have been replaced by the RE-003. Never let me down.

yeah outside wear only on passenger side mainly front.... we have too many roundabouts ;)
got a bub so no hooning for me...
I did ask last time for an alignment on last service. only noticed them other day when I got a puncher.
Think it may be beyond the point of return now to do alignment. May try and swing past a tyre mob and see what they think.

I normally rely on the subie centre to do.... well they mark it normally on my bill :(
May colour paint pen each one next time...

how many km do you suggest for this?

I was not happy last time when they drained and refilled my wiper fluid.
I had only put the good rain bead stuff in it the week prior....

Who drains and re-fills wiper fluid?

I rotate my tyres at every service- 5,000km.

Where are you Vert?

1. Subaru Service Centre. I did catch them out on a tyre rotation last time as only did front to back not left to right. That's why I thought they had done the alignment.

2. Sydney way.

I may have to look back at my receipts...

I have 2 65 series spare. The one I put in the rear I deflate. When I am travelling around during the week I don't bother carrying my air compressor as I figure I can call the RACV in the unlikely event I have a flat. For off road trips i always carry a compressor. For longer or more remote trips I always carry a second fully inflated spare on the roof.
