What else could you offroad?

A lifted WRX is the coolest offroadsubaru I think, but if you wanted to offroad an AWD car usually seen on road what would it be?

A GTR skyline?
AWD VRX Magna?
EVO?
4motion VW?
Audi Quattro?

Quite appropriate considering that ol' Ferdinand certainly had a hand in designing the first 4WD.

A range rover sport will be my next upgrade!!
They chop up offroad.. 8 speed auto, v8 turbo diesel, 5" adjustable suspensipn and factory diff locks.
 
I'm giving this a shot... AUII Falcon Wagon, 4.0L I6, 4sp auto... with suspension and rear locking 3:45 diff out of a BA RTV ute.
Only just completed the RTV conversion... and so far it's great! Got to get out and see just how far it can go now!

I've been researching the turbo route a little! But the $$ need to be sent to my account first!
It'll never be 'finished' haha.
 
It's not all wheel drive. This thread is about alternative AWD vehicles.
 
I always thought these would have had more success.. I guess price point or execution lacked. I also heard they chewed through the fuel.

"What else could you offroad" - no mention of drive train. Could be push bikes, tanks, hovercraft...anything really :iconwink:
 
Well if there's a problem, who feels like helping me fit the AWD front-end gear from a Territory? Haha :P


I've always thought the Adventra was pretty cool, not bad off road either... unfortunately what killed it was Holden being far too slow to release them in V6, the V8 is fairly thirsty. I considered one for a while... but was put off by the huge number of specialised parts, which if they fail, can be a nightmare to find replacements for, or very expensive. At this time in their lifespan, they're also having plenty of transmission issues and failures, and the trans is AWD specific too. That's why I decided to stick with the simplicity of the Falcon!

haha,
some 4WD vehicles don;t even need to use the other 2 wheels for a good part of their offroad time.
A mate and I drove in to Southport Lagoon in his Suzuki Sierra without realising we hadn't locked the front hubs.
No grip issues with the couple of wading, mud-hole crossings or beach driving.
we only noticed when climbing over the low dune at the end into the campsite.
