SG 6-stacker... Jammed disc's?

Hi all,

So from day dot owning my Forester, I've had dramas with the 6 stacker. Initially the 6th disc jammed during loading, and the CD portion of the player stopped responding for a few days until it managed to pick up and load the disc.

Since then, whenever I've tried to eject any of the disc's (Or eject all) the CD portion stops responding for days or weeks on end.
Have tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery to no avail.

I'd really love to get the god awful CD's out of the player and be able to load some fresh ones in haha!

Anyone have any idea's?

I've had pretty much the same problem with mine. So it must be a common problem, but I never found the solution, I've had the same CD's in there for years...

It might be simpler to just replace the OEM double DIN unit with an after-market one that works properly.

Certainly a lot less frustrating!

I haven't had CDs in my player for years - not sure if it still works - I found vibrations on corrugations would upset the CD so I gave up. There's nothing in the workshop manual in relation to releasing stuck CDs.

I'm getting by using a bluetooth FM transmitter for the time being, but I do miss the story an album can tell and the unmatched quality of physical media. But enough about that!

I'm planning on switching out to an aftermarket unit when funds allow.

That's the plan. Thankfully I'm a bit of a tinkerer and shouldn't have too much trouble retrieving the disc's. Just need to line up another unit.

Me too Lefty, I distinctly remember recording songs off the radio station during my childhood, hoping the hosts wouldn't talk over the beginning/end of the songs :lol:
