As most of my dashboard illumination lights, assume LEDs, are now defunct and I need to use the GPS at night to see what speed and engine revs I am at, some urgent replacement is necessary.
How difficult is it to gain access to the existing bulbs to replace them?
Is there an after market replacement available?
Thinking of using a blue light to match the interior light and car colour......
Yes a bit wankerish I know but pretty........

Gidday Ate

Pick up a handful at a convenient wrecker ...

BTW, all is good with my issues.

Hi Ate,

I replaced some of the bulbs for my MY06 https://offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=6285

The bulbs themselves are not difficult to replace if you can separate them from their base/sockets. You can get the bulbs from supercheap/repco etc. Just the base/socket could be an issue. I tried subaru and I was told there was no stock in Australia for my Forester and as Ratbag said, wreckers may be you best try.

I couldn't find any compatible led though.

For a temp fix a book light clipped to the dash is not a bad interim measure.

Best regards,

Hi Guys,
Thanks for that info.
RB, glad all well.
Made it back to Adelaide and took an interesting photo along the way which I will post when I work out how.

Something different, not dash lights.
Illumination for the RHS air con control, the "Auto/Off/Temp Control" in the central console, MY03 XS, so has 3 circular knobs, has gone. Is this just a bulb or part of the actual knob. A "simple" job or a PITA.
Anybody know?
Thanks ateday.

If they are bulbs they can be replaced by LEDs. If they are LEDS i suspect the LEDS aren't dead but you have a circuit problems. Killing leds is seriously difficult apart from pole reversal.
