Torque duty solenoid

I’ve replaced one on my old liberty and now need to do one my wife’s XT. It is pretty easy to do even with limited mechanical knowledge.
Drain the transmission fluid first then remove the drive shaft from the back of the transmission by unbolting the uni joint and sliding it out.
The job is a bit easier if you unbolt the transmission cross-member and lower the transmission slightly on a trolley jack so you can access the top bolts.
Carefully split the transfer housing off the back of the transmission. The MTP clutch assembly and duty C solenoid will come out with the housing.
Unbolt it and swap in your new one. Clean the mating surfaces and put back together with a new gasket.
If you output shaft seal isn’t leaking you will probably get away using it again but I would put a new one in to be safe.
Fill transmission with new fully synthetic ATF and enjoy.

I understand there are 4 different version of the Duty C solenoid over the years so make sure you get the right one.
Go to a Subaru dealer and give them your VIN number to make sure you get the right solenoid and gasket.

Disclaimer: I am a backyard amateur mechanic so my advice is only as good as you get by consulting anonymous people on an internet forum.

OK the Subaru dealer was useless, couldn't even FIND it in their parts listings.
Where the hell can I get the thing?

No, that's duty solenoid 'A' and you want duty solenoid 'C'.

He might be able to sort you out.

You need the one with the green wire attached in this picture.
(not my photo but if you google duty solenoid c replacement there's heaps of pics, you may even find a part number this way)

He couldn't find it.

I'm on AU, I'll pm him.

Is this it?
