Upgrading wheels/tires

In the next few months I'll be purchasing smaller wheels/bigger tires. I have a 2015 forester limited. From what I understand 16" is the smallest wheel that will fit. Just wondering what is the largest size tire that will fit on the new 16 and how much extra tire can I fit with a lift? Thanks all in advance.

Your tire size is limited by the spring perch - regardless of lift.
