I have a 2000 sf with 04 sg struts and springs and 2 inch spacers in the rear and 1 1/4 in the front with stock rims. Oh and 20mm wheel spacers on standby. what do you all think? I know 215/75 15 are not a problem, but I want the biggest tire plausible. Also I know the lift blocks dont matter a great deal in this scenario. Does anyone know of any MT"s in this size?

If your going to do it go 235/75r15 then you have a very wide range of tyres.
Just swap out your lift blocks for strut bottom lift then clearancr wont be an issue.
I hope you got the gearing and power to backup the big wheels! !!

I thought about doing a bottom strut lift ( i even have the spacers made) but I honestly dont want to undo the lift i have now and put it on. plus i am worried about losing power with the bigger bigger tires. Thats why im trying to go the 225 route. Im just surprised I cant find a post of folks running this size tires. Im trying to find a used set to put on for a bit.

I am currently running 225/55 R17s on my SF Forester as daily road tyres. I have a suspension lift only with SG Struts, 1" Spacers in the Rear and SG King Springs.

The tyres are on standard SH 17" Rims with a +48 Offset - there are no rubbing issues with these tyres. The offroad tyres that I run are 215/75 R15s - BF Goodrich.

I know that a 55 profile is a lot smaller than a 75 profile but I just wanted to put the information here in relation to the tyre width (225).

I went 225/70R15 because its a smaller rolling diameter to help with gear with the extra width for a little more traction. Only come in the cooper at3 though.

I think im going to go the 215 75 15 mud terrain route for now. I was hoping for a bigger tire, but I dont have the time for the mods on my daily driver right now. Ill probley buy the bfg mt's. Second choice will be the dynapros. Any other suggestions?

Here in holland general does sell 225 75 15 in AT2 and AT3.

I am on the same route. Tried an 30 inch (same as 235-75-15) on a stock steel rim . I didnt fit because of the rear sg springperch. If i want this to fit then i need 3.5 cm spacers at minimum. Or a bottum strut lift, which is illigal here in holland. Want to buy a set used 225 75 15 's so that i can give it a try and find out how much rubbing it will give. But 235 are secondhand no problem, 225 next to impossible to find

do you think with the 3.5cm spacers the 30 inchers will have enough room in the wheel wells?

I have 225/75/R15 on an SG.

They fit.

To fit 235/75R15, instead of a strut bottom lift, it would be best to cut the spring perch and weld it on higher up (fine if you are using removable inserts) or by adding a coilover sleeve kit.

i have had 235/75/15 on my rig now for 12K…
you can get around the spring perch issue by 3" back spacing with Bassett DOT racing wheels

tint freak, did you re gear at all, or are you still stock? if so, how much power did you lose?

stilson. did you use any spacers to fit your 225's?

No spacers but the offset on my rims is a few mm less.

The 225/70R16 tyres I had on the stock rims are slightly larger and didn't require spacers either.

Re: gearing

I found the flat spot off idle was pronounced with the larger tyres. Even with the stock sized tyres I would often use low range. I got the engine ECU tuned by Throttlehappy and now I rarely need to use low range on road.

I still plan to change to 4.44 just for more punch and to reduce to load on the driveline.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info all.

I have 215/75/15 Kuhmo Road Venture muddies & I'm very happy with them offroad. Onroad, they aren't so good.

General Grabbers are very popular in the US.

BFG MTs are hard to beat.

Do you have an auto or manual? If manual, esp as yours would be single range, I definitely would not go too big! If auto, you can go bigger but it will still push your fuel consumption way up

no gear change here, still factory 4.44 i changed the exhaust in case of power loss… a header and wrx factory cat back.
and there was no power loss after that mod. and i still get 19mpg:cool:

Now i cant decide if i want to go more tintfreaks route. im trying to figure out if i have enough lift. 04 sg springs and struts with 1.25 spacers in front and 2 inch spacers in the back. i need new wheels so i was going to get some with 3 inch back spacing and go with 235 75 15's.

I would go 2" front & 2 1/2" rear lift. Thats a very safe lift for the CVs & the extra clearance will be noticeable :monkeydance:

I'm trying to figure out how big of wheel spacers I'll need to get enough clearance with a stock +41 rim. any suggestions?
