Hi all. I am looking to replace my 10 YO Xtrail which has been a very competent and reliable softroader.
I really like the pricing of the new Outback diesel.
Are the new models easy enough to get aftermarket suspension and or body lift kits?
I ran ARB suspension in my Exxy and it was great.
Also does anyone on here have experience with tuning the 2.0d as the figures are a little underwhelming compared with say the Santa Fe, although ground clearance is obviously up on the Subie.
With tuning options I would be looking at the auto's ability to handle the extra torque also.
Sorry to put it all in one post, but all advice much appreciated as I will be looking to take the car on the beach occasionally and really need clearance and reliability.
Cheers

MRT would probably be the people to speak to about tuning the 2.0D. They have a range of mild to wild staged kits and have built a fire-breathing rally Forester diesel.

I would take a look at the Primitive lift kit. I would go for the 1.5", the max for a multilink Subie, or stay with just 0.5", which does not require mods other than the spacers. I would check out the SubaXtreme front skid plate and Primitive's mid and rear plates.

I would go for a mildly oversize AT tire to offset clearance loss due to sidewall bulging once the tires are no longer brand new. And also treadwear.

Basically, 0.5" spacers and larger tires mean staying at 8.7" actual clearance to skid plates and 9.2 to exhaust over time.

I would not bother with anything between 0.5" and 1.5" lifts. Either just spacers or the complete kit, if the complete kit better get a real lift. My 2c.
