5 x 114 hub conversion anyone?

Hubs seem way stronger. I got a full version 8 sti conversion, but I'm keeping my 4eat, just having it built a little stronger. I switched out my stock rear diff with the sti r180 diff that is way stronger, I just had to get the ring and pinion from a Nissan r180 diff switched into it for the 4.11 final drive. That allows me to use sti axles which are stronger. Also have a larger wheel selection and can fit brembos too. Just have to modify my front struts to fit on the larger hubs. Will post pics later this week.

If you're going r180, you should get an ARB air locker for the rear... With the 4eat lockup mod you'll be unstoppable!

This is not possible - I've looked into this, doesn't work. R180s come in quite a few varieties. It only works with a live axel diff out of the front of a Nissan 4x4. The IRS diffs (even the Nissan Skyline and Silvia ones) don't work. The stub axels and circlip setups are all wrong for the ARB centre.
It's a nice dream though.

Good to know, bit of a bugger though. There go my dreams of a locked foz...
I thought the r180 lockers were for independently suspended nissan front ends though, like a d22.

Possibly, although those are still kindof a semi-live axel.

Maybe there would be a way of removing the solid axel part on the left there and replacing it with a normal driveshaft with CVs, or even adapting it to fit a Subaru as-is. Other issue is finding one in a ratio that matches a Suby gearbox - pretty sure they are all ratios like 4.3, 4.875 etc. Maybe a Subaru R180 ring gear would fit.
