A tad O/T and probably answered a dozen times in different mod/build threads, but a question: Does the wheel well need some persuasion to take a 215/65R16 in a series 2 SG? And does that answer depend on what type/construction tyre? Just thinking of availability in remoter areas ....

^ I'd certainly have to check that with mine.

As well as the usual attachments to the subframe rails, my towbar has four 40x5 mm (approx) "fingers" that are bolted to the O/S of my spare wheel well at about the points of the compass!

No amount of "persuasion" would have the slightest effect on them!

Wheel wells in general or the "spare" wheel well?

If you mean the spare wheel well, than the answer is yes, it needs some massaging to hold a fully inflated 215/65R16 tyre.

An alternative is to deflate it to about 10psi and carry a compressor with you...

I bashed mine in (or out should I say) and it's fine!

Kevin (I presume), thanks for moving this to a separate topic.

You're welcome. I deflate my spare to about 15 psi and my spare wheel well was "modified" with a lump hammer and a block of wood.
