Last night I bought 2 bullbars for $40 to go on my '88 L Series. Both are in pretty good condition and seem to be the type that fit over the existing bumper. The problem I have is that I can't for the life of me figure out where they would mount to. Is there extra brackets or mounts that join the bullbar to the chassis rails or am I completely missing something?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

If they fit over (in front of) the existing bumper then they are "Roo Bars" rather than bullbars. That's always been the rule of thumb as far as I know.

There are many different designs so the mounts could be designed many different ways. I remember I got a roo bar for my first L series and it mounted with two bolts each side. One set went through the two tiedown loops (or tow points), and the other two bolted through the car body a little further back. You will probably need to test fit the roo bar and just see where the bolt holes line up to and figure out if you need to make any rudimentary brackets with bits of metal or if some bolts will just go through.

Post of up some pics of your car and the new bars, that will help.

Thanks for the reply. Definitely a roo bar from the looks of it then. I have one that is identical to the one shown in your second picture and another that is the same principle but looks like it would bolt up further back and lower. I will post some pictures later today when I get a chance. Thanks for your help!

Managed to get it bolted up today. Bolted up to the recovery points as you said Andrew so thanks for your help! Much appreciated!

Pics in the shed just don't do it justice! I'll take some good ones when I go camping for new years and show everyone! Must say it looks the part with the new Narva's bolted up too! In the meantime I have got some pictures up from my last trip on my profile if you're interested.
