Trying to forum hunt a bit and find a good answer. I'm ordering my 2" SJR lift at the end of this month and after that I'll be getting bigger tires.

I know I can run at least 215/65R/16s, but I'm wondering if I can bump that up one more size.

Here's a Baja that lifted 4" and is running 235/70r/16s: https://www.scoobytruck.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2230

So I'm not sure if I'll be able to run a size that big. He mentioned he trimmed a good amount which I'm not afraid to do at all. Finding Gen2 Outbacks like me seems to be rather complicated.

Here's a Gen2 with the 2" lift from High Guys: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/107183-lifts-2000-outback-legacy-baja-highguys/

Basically, I have at least a general idea of what I can do, but I was wondering if you guys could help me decide if I could jump up another tire size. If I can, I'd like to.

So plainly laid out, here are my questions:

What's the largest tire that I can run?

What is going rub when I run bigger tires? (Strut, inner wheel well, etc.)

In the future, can I use a Forester trailing arm bracket to push my wheels back a bit when I go for 4"?

Any other tips or ideas?

Thanks a bunch. :)

No bigger than 215/70/16 will be possible. I ran them with 3" of lift and they only just fit and rubbed at full lock. There is no chance of them fitting with 1" as I tried and couldnt even get out of the driveway. So I am unsure with 2" but its pushing it.
You could trim some stuff and possibly get them to fit better with 2" or get some better offset rims or spacers to push them out a bit.
215/65/16 may be your best bet honestly.

Thanks so much! Where is it that it rubs? The strut?

No, rubs on the body of the vehicle... usually right where the lower control arm rear mount is. Its worse at full compression.

Thanks! Looks like I'll be running 215/65r/16s so I don't rub. We'll see after the 4" lift. :p
