After 10 years of owning the 05 XT from new with the only suspension mod an STi rear swaybar, I thought it might be time to move up in the world.

Someone is selling a fitted set of :

Subtle Solutions 1" strut top spacers.
King Springs raised (for SG). Front KSFR-32SP & rear KSRR-43
SG full set of struts (self levelling).
He is not willing to separate the parts.

It was on his SF foz but he blew 2 CVs with this setup.
I really don't want the headaches or a complete body spacer setup like Nachaluva's as I am not a hardcore offroader anyway.
Will this setup as is screw up my CVs and camber in an 05XT?

From what I understand as I have the same model as you, the rears will be fine but you will need trailing arm spacers to realigned the rear wheel back to the center.

The risk of cv damage will be greater at the fronts if raised over 2".

Also, our 05 xt model cannot be body lifted due to the locations of the air bag sensors as I understand.

Hopefully, NachaLuva can confirm and back up what I said.

Cheers

You wil have camber issues, excessive CV wear and strut topout with this setup. Just use the spacers and sell the springs or buy the gorilla ones for ~$100.

I think that it should work well as you have an SG, no particular problem with the CV's on an SG. On an SF the front CV's are different and tend to break with too much lift... and as catchya said, you will need trailing arm spacers.

^ agree.

Looks fairly mild compared to my setup: https://offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=953&highlight=setup

CVs by their very nature will wear out. I'm sure I have one on the way out now; was it affected by the lift - after 14 years who cares!

I'm curious about that rear SL setup - stronger springs would really defeat the purpose of SL I imagine.

Strut top-out is the most annoying trade off with this setup I find. You really have to slow down on speed humps and the like to limit the rebound.

Raised springs with the stock SLS??

Firstly I have my 2002 SG fitted out with both king raised springs, KYB struts and Gorilla 1 inch strut top spacers. Secondly I had no problems with the front and rear alignment after the strut top spacers were fitted. Many of the SGs in the Victorian Subaru 4wd club have this set up and I am not aware of anyone having the CV joints failing.
I am very happy with the performance of the raised Kings, however you must upgrade the struts front and rear to KYB excel G.
You can not use raised Kings or any other raised spring on the self levelling rear strut. The SL rear strut and spring set up work differently with the strut taking the weight of the car and not doing the dampening.
Google the Kings catalogue and it warns that the raised spring can not be used with the self levelling strut.
The Gorilla lift blocks are also far cheaper than Subtle at $115 US plus postage. I fitted mine 3 months ago and are very happy with them.
Trust this helps.

thanks all, a few varied opinions. I think I will play it safe and just get 1" spacers for now and look to getting springs /struts later if I feel I need to go higher.
