I made a short video of the highlights from my trail riding from this past year. All compressed into around a minute, enjoy...

Good stuff, m1.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of that ... :).

From my Batphone

Thanks, I've got hours of video on my YouTube channel, you could probably waste an entire day watching my off-road stuff.

Hey, m1, how about some links to some of the "Author's picks" ... :poke: :iconwink:.

Mostly I prefer to watch stuff that's about 5 minutes or less on a computer. I get too bloody uncomfortable staring at a screen for longer than that . Must be due to the fact that I'm old, and grumpy ... :raspberry:.

I can type for hours at a time, but that's different!

Haha, I'll give you the ones that are approximately 5 minutes and a couple of short ones to average it out.

^ Great, thanks m1.

I also spend a lot of time horizontal, and generally use my Batphone then. My laptop generally has 4 paws and a tail ... . Seriously though, my lappy is a 10 y.o. IBM, so not exactly a lightweight. Still does everything I want/need it to do though, so why spend hard-earned readies on something to replace something that works perfectly well?

Anyway, I checked out your first link. Those rocks look to have serious teeth ! In the USA, you are allowed to have serious under body protection. Here our sump guards have to be air bag and pre-tensioner seatbelt compliant, which limits things a bit ... I certainly hope that your car has something underneath it!

BTW, your SH is almost identical to my SWMBO's :).

My five year old MSI laptop is still doing desk duty with its 1 minute battery life.

In that first video, my undercarriage was bare! As of now I have a 3/16" aluminum skidplate under the oil pan that luckily hasn't touched the rocks yet. Our rules on aftermarket parts are very relaxed here. They throw an off-road use only disclaimer on it and that allows companies to sell us whatever they want with no government involvement.

Do you have a picture of your SWMBO's SH?

^ Haha. The OEM battery in my IBM will still run it for about 1.5 hours. I bought a new one recently, and got a car charger for it at the same time. Nice to be able to use it 'un-tethered' again ... :iconwink:.

Some pics of SWMBO's SH here:

It's an MY10 (2009) with the N/A 2.5L EJ-253 engine and 4EAT Sportshift tranny. She loves it ... .

I prefer my MY06 (2006) with the EJ-253 and 5MT/DR tranny. Just as well ... :poke: :rotfl:.

I plan to put some protection plates under my gearbox and rear diff at some stage. These don't affect air bag compliance apparently. I do have an air bag compliant sump guard on mine as of a couple of weeks ago (cast alloy). I hope that it never sees anything up close and personal, but it's got to be better than nothing! There is around 215 mm clearance under it.

Looked at the rest of your videos. Great stuff. Some well-handled bits there.

I like the camera coming unstuck in a couple. Was that a GoPro with a genuine mount, or something else? I do have a GoPro Hero 3 (black version with the remote) and a genuine GoPro mount. I wouldn't mount it on the roof without a tether though ...

Have you properly broken SWMBO'S SH in off-roading yet?

The mount is an official Gopro suction cup mount, it just didn't stay on because it was raining a little bit every time I re-attached it. Luckily we were going slow enough to catch it falling off every time. I'm hoping to get a roof basket soon and hard mount it to the basket next time.

I'll be putting more focus on video production for next year's adventures. I'd like more stationary shots in combination with the vehicle mount.

^ You are kidding, of course! I wouldn't dare ... :poke:.

As for the GoPro, I reckon that I would crimp up a tiny little SS security cable for mine, and tie it onto one of the roof bars. I don't really trust suction cups, except those bloody great big ones they use for handling plate glass ... and they don't cost $70 either ... :iconwink:.
