Today my MY06 manual Forester just throw the Malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) steadily together with a flashing "Curise" indicator.

This first started when driving on the freeway, but is still showing the same when the car is stopped and restarted.

I've checked the manual but only said bring it to the dealer. Without a OBD2 scanner I have no idea what the problem is.

Not sure if anyone had this problem before? Or any idea what the problem could be? Is the car still safe to drive till this is fixed?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that. A few of our members in Perth have OBDII scanners, I am sure one of them will be able to help you with a diagnosis.

I can scan for you this evening if you like
Rossmoyne SOR

Thanks lefty. I've unplugged the battery last night. Will see if the CEL comes back on or not n will definitely hassel you for the scanning if it does come back again.
Thanks again

Lefty, CEL still on...what time will suit you please?

Thanks lefty, will give you a call at about 8pm.
Cheers

Problem solved

Hi lefty,

Thank you for scanning and deleting the error code P0303 for my car.

STechnic is fully booked so I can't bring the car to them for fix until early October. I then did some search on the internet to find out the potential causes of the problem.

After viewing several videos, I tried the things which I can do and replaced the spark plugs and the spark plug cables and after this no more CEL and the jerking (which I thought was clutch problem) is totally gone :woohoo:

Although oil was found in the spark plug wells 3 and 4 which might need to fix but at least this is something to do later and the car is very smooth to drive now.
