How hard would it be to integrate one of these into the existing wiring of the reverse lights?

My privacy glass renders the current reverse lights pretty useless and I think I could mount one of these easily somewhere near the towbar.

Is it a matter of just splicing into the wiring going to the reverse globes at the rear? I suspect there's more to it than this...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have to first determine what draw the circuit will take; you may just be able to hook it up (with an inline fuse of course). Otherwise hook into the reverse light circuit to connect to a relay; the relay could then get more power from another source, say, the rear accessory socket.

I just noticed that the draw for the extra light is 1.5 amps at 12V this will help determine if the circuit will carry the extra load. I wonder what the fuse rating is on this circuit and what other things it has to supply.

if you want to pin a relay, the trailer wiring harness plug in the boot has reverse on it plugs on the d/s under the floor trim

Reversing Lights

I have two 55 watt reversing lights wired up on my MY03
The lights are cheap SupaCheap Auto small round "driving" lights.
I ran a new cable from the battery to them via a 20 amp relay mounted just near the rear accessory plug behind the trim. It gets its signal from a wire spliced into the existing reversing light circuit.
It has been in use for about 10 years with no problems.

I have very similar LEDs fitted to the rear of mine for the same reason. 1.5A is fine to add to the existing wiring. I removed the tail lights and spliced into the vehicle harness.

Look for LEDs with a focusing lens rather than just a reflector setup.

Interesting link, but I think I might try splicing into the original reverse lights wiring. Stilson, did you add a fuse or anything or is it as simple as matching positive and negative, splicing, and running the extra wires to the lights?

Stilson. Are those lights sitting on the outside of the bar or recessed into it?

-1 splice on the vehicle side of the plug so you can still remove the tail lights if needed. The circuit is already fused.
