I though I would post a couple of pics of backyard birds. The galahs don't do this often...just eating grass seed and the family of lorikeets where just keeping out of the rain today. The one on the left is dad ( you can tell by his more colourful chest) then mum and the two kids. The kids have different coloured beaks. I feed them a bit of apple most days but that is all I give them. They poop everywhere but they are rather cute:):).

It is a bit dark this arvo and the camera used flash and that is why the colours seem a bit different.

Nice - I have visiting lorikeets at my place too (an advantage of not having dogs or cats!)

pretty birds, but a pest here in WA, displacing the more native birds. Years ago there were unheard of, now they are everywhere. Saw it first hand yesterday when we were walking through a park. A 28 parrot poked its head into a tree hollow and a lorikeet which was already inside chased it away.

A shame about that. I think you are having trouble with one of our Kookaburras also.
The birds in the backyard are really active here at the moment. The other day I reckon there were 25 or more Currawongs sitting on the fence, in the birdbath, on the lawn and in the tree. All making a racket. I've never seen so many all at once.
