Hi all,

I am looking at:

https://www.autoramps.com/car_ramps.htm

and thinking that the solid one-piece ramp which is available locally for 40$/pair can be thrown in the back to serve as an oh-my-not-this-one rock or wash angle-helping device.

The one I would be buying is rated at 6,500 pounds.

Initially, the other one, which can be disassembled, caught my eye. Then, however, I figured that at probably 20" the resulting ramps would not be enough to serve as bridging devices while the solid one would be more reliable as a "step" to a higher rock or a step down a wash.

What are your thoughts? I can neither afford, nor conveniently carry true waffle boards, which are about 48" long and cost 200$ unless one can find cheaper, industrial ones. By contrast, these are 36" long for 20% of the price. True, they will be useless as bridging devices, but should be just as fine as stepping ones (conveniently shaped stones are not always easily found--or as reliable:)).

Thoughts? The community's wisdom is always preferable to mine--on such matters, at least:lol:

Many of these terms are foreign to me, but if they are to get you unbogged, being steel they could cut your tyres and damage body if flicked up.

I'd suggest some short planks of wood or cheap eGay recovery tracks.

No, no, my question has nothing to do with traction and everything to do with angles.

But, you did give me an idea. A pair of locally purchased firewood bundles can probably do most of what these car ramps might w/o being as bulky and ridiculous. And would also be dual use...

Of course, the car ramps would be far more reliable but chances I would need anything of the sort are slim anyway.

OK, time to delete this thread:lildevil:

I've used maxtrax for crossing ruts and getting up and down steps that were too large. They don't look like they will take a cars weight, but they will ... with a little bending. If you don't already have maxtrax cheap bundles of wood will do the job.
