For those from interstate & OS, The Black Spur road between historic Healesville & Narbethong is one of the classic Australian drives. It winds through beautiful tree ferns & majestic Mountain Ash, the tallest flowering plant in the world. This area was devastated during the Black Saturday Bushfires in February 2009 when Healesville was completely surrounded by fire on all sides, a terrifying time for the residents for almost a week. This footage was shot in August 2013 over 4 yrs later & the regrowth, although slow, is dramatic

Hey Nachaluva that is my backyard!! You did well very well going over it in 3.57 maybe a bit of fast forward :)
You are not wrong about The Black Saturday fire. The regeneration is amazing to watch. Another good drive in the area is Healesville to Toolangi and back via Chum Creek.
Cheers

The Toolangi drive looks good. Toolangi SF is a stronghold of the critically endangered Leadbeaters Possum...in the areas that the state govt have given over for clearfell logging...for woodchips!!!:puke:

Watch from 50s as the tiny lil fella scurries up the tree :)

This is yet another reason to boycott Reflex Paper, the ones who are behind these types of destructive old growth logging :yell::furious:

Another great drive I did a while ago was the Reefton Spur...just gotta watch out for idiot riders using up both sides of the road

Black Spur Road looks like a great place to go for a drive NL! Reminds me of driving both in Tasmania (west coast) and also down the Southwest of W.A with those tall trees! Cool video, I like the camera angle.

They haven't left a lot of room between the edge of the road and the trees have they - pretty cool I think as you feel like your right in the middle of the forest really!

Yeah its a great drive for sure! The old road was tricky, it was narrower with crumbly edges & a slippery surface in spots. The new road is smooth, grippy & wider, but still not much room for error. On the vid you can see a car on a tow truck that came to grief, a pretty common sight on the Black Spur

Great vid Nachaluva :raz:
What an awesome road  I'd love to have a go on that one

Regards

Nachaluva another excellent drive in the area is from Healesville to Mt Donna Buang via Don road and Mt Donna Buang road. This climbs very steeply out of Badgers Creek. Just after Dons Gap it becomes a dirt road. When you get to Mt Donna Buang you can decend down to Cement creek and onto the Acheron Way to Narbethong or into Warburton.
Over winter Mt Donna Buang Road is closed due to snow and makes a challenging mountain bike ride, which I have done.
It is well worth the checking out before mid June when it closes.
