Looking for options: I have 215/75 R 15 BFG's. newly fitted. Was offroading and noticed some rubbing on the rear. They are an aftermarket fit, and I can see why they rub. Basically a bracket was fitted inside the wheel well, and this reduced clearance.

Am looking at a more conventional fit, but also interested in other options. I noticed on one of the banner pics a SG Forester with lift and Subaxtreme rear bar that has flaps fitted to the underside of the bar, or at least it looks like that. Is that your rig Kevin?

Others like Nachaluva might be able to comment re: OEM flaps and larger wheels.

So, to get the ball rolling: if you have a lifted Foz and larger wheels:

1. what mudflaps do you have?
2. Have they created rubbing issues?
3. if your mudflaps are larger than OEM, have you fitted a chain to stop them being caught by a wheel when offroading? If so, how?

I like the look of the Rallyarmor gear, but bloody expensive! Interested in other solutions.

I hung them off the rear bar

Looks great Kevin :lildevil:

Dulagarl, my muddies (215/75/15) rub slightly at the front on about 3/4 turn, but I think thats due to spacers pushing the wheel further out. There's also some rubbing on the spring perch as I have the stupid SF rear struts :(

I have OEM mudflaps with no rubbing there

My slightly larger 215/65R16 (as opposed to a 60 profile) do not rub on anything. I've got the rally armour basic mud flaps and I don't think they would rub on a 215/70R16 tyre either...

I do find them a little too large sometimes. I don't have any chains fitted and I could see situations where they might press against a spinning wheel and get ripped out. Additionally, after a few hours driving at 110km/h, they get a little deformed backwards - coming back eventually to original shape.

Suspension's still a 1" block and raised springs.

Im running oem mud flaps
Same lift as you, similar tyre size 225/70r15 on audi wheels.
No rubbing of mud flaps or in guards, shocks, arches, etc....

Thanks for the replies guys. All useful info.

I also like what paffoh did with his: Rallyarmor but fastened to chains at the back. see this thread:

Think I'll end up doing something like that: but can't see myself shelling out for the rallyarmor flaps.

Hey Pedro, where did you source the Rally Armour basics? I'm not going to shell out for the urethane ones, too exy, but I've found a spot in QLD that does the universal basics at a reasonable cost:

https://www.carmodsaustralia.com.au...gory=?&year=15&make=4&model=39&turbo_only=190

plus postage it comes to not much more than $50. Not bad.

An alternative is "IKEA mud flaps":

https://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showthread.php?7305-5-ikea-mudflaps!

Think the Rallly Armor might be a bit more durable.

I have seen an alternative to chains holding the mud flap on a cement truck at work. Basically a bit of thick coat hanger type wire that extends down the mud flap to hold it in place....

Quick google:
https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200325191_200325191

Why not get the Rally Armor basic Uni flaps? Only $16.

What could also be a good idea is using nutserts on the wheel arch for the mud flap to bolt to so you're not dicking about with a retaining nut you have to hold on the other side. That's what I'll be doing at some point.

You could try some of these field-serviceable types.

I fixed the URLs for your photos.

There was a "www." at the start, and the site parsing engine obviously cannot handle that ...

BTW, love the thongs ... :rotfl:

??? That's how it came up using "copy image location" in the right-click menu over the album image, and showed the image in-line in the preview window and when posted. Now in the thread I see just two links rather than one pic (1203 shouldn't be in this thread), and the links don't work for me.

Just something I spotted at the lights back in June, and managed to catch with the camera.
