So last weekend, Twinkles, my co-pilot Chris and I went in search of dirt and mud! And thats exactly what we found :lildevil:

We decided to meet in the Coles carpark in Bunbury at 0800hrs, Twinkles being there on time had to wait for me who was a bit late as i had to pack the wagon before leaving since i had finished some body work on it the night before. SO i was powering along the highway to arrive at Coles at 0840hrs. We all did some quick supply shopping then packed it away into the esky's.
To my horror, i noticed a large puddle of oil under the wagon knowing full well it wasn't there when i parked! Its never bled that before, or any oil really!
To cut the long story short, it seems like one out of three rings on each the pistons has worn out and cant hack it at 110kph and has let compression escape into the crankcase blowing oil straight into the air filter box to which it leaked out of down the engine and onto the ground.
So with 5l bottle of new oil on board from Supercheap, we headed out of town via a fuel station.

We rolled into a service center ready to pump some fuel which is when Twinkles realised that he lost his mrs's credit card! Oops...so back into Bunbury we went, backtracking in hopes of finding the card!

As you can see we were off to a flying start

With the card lost and cancelled, we gassed up in town then headed out to the powerline track i had passed a long time ago which i had only glimpsed driving by.

It was pretty easy going.

Then we found a road with a steep drop (seen in the video) just off the powerline which led to a mound at the end of it. With enough speed, Twinkles would have made it but he was scared of damaging his Soob so he took it wayyyy too slow and got beached

From there, we trundled along till the powerlines ended which forced us to find more tracks! Down the dirt road we went heading through the forests till i noticed a strong blue through the trees. It was a dam! It was going to be one of either two dams in the region. So we decided to head towards it, heading downhill hoping to end up on the foreshore which we eventually did! It was obviously Welly dam haha.

Pretty easy to drive around on the side we ended up on (west side). After some thinking, Twinkles reckoned we should head south. Eventually we reached a "pinch point" where the water ends in a triangle which normally means you have to cross the water or go around. At this pinch point, the area before had a very damp and was muddy and slippery but was still pretty walkable. Anywho, the pinch point was very fun

And that was day 1 finished!

Next morning we awoke to a beaut day!

Twinkles bogged again in an odd spot where the foreshore got randomly boggy. Momentum was lost and the tyres stopped clearing the mud and became slick and he we down like a rock!

After that we kept exploring, had to backtrack a bit when the foreshore was unpassable and take an access road to the next bit of foreshore. Eventually Twinkles became bogged in a pinch point which was the second mud pit haha. All this can be seen in the vid compilation!

And here is the vid!

Enjoy!

oh yeah, reverse doughies in the mud!
looks like an epic trip, i'm definitely coming on the next one

You should have attempted the mound on an angle, like a lowered WRX going over a speed bump, you'll need a bit of momentum if your diagonal wheels come off the ground, but there wouldn't have been scraping.

Other than that, the trip did look like a lot of fun!

Looks like you guys had some fun! Great trip report

How is Twinkles engine? Was it the rings? You could also try replacing the PCV valve

I should have gone faster
More speed bottoms out your suspension more and would have scraped harder plus with more impact.

Looks like you got bogged many more times than at Yeagarup, but you don't seem to have the damage bill that Yeagarup left you with and far more importantly you looked like you had a lot more fun:ebiggrin:

Also, there isn't any video of Interceptor bogged, Wasn't he trying hard enough?

Thats cos sand is tonnes harder on a car!

The wagon is unstoppable hehe even my co-pilot drove around and didnt get stuck and he hasnt driven a lot of stick shift!

So how is his engine?

As good as usual! Hasnt bled any oil since that morning as i havent gone over 100kph. Guess the bores are either worn enough to allow blow by at 110kph or the rings just arent coping at 110. Doesnt blow smoke though, probably a mix of both.

Great trip report & some awesome pics too

A couple of potential banner pics too, I'll have to say :iconwink:

Regards
Mr Turbo

just out of interest, did the lower-centre bar on the L-series go missing halfway through or was it removed?

The welds on the " 'Roo bar" are absolutely awful, no penetration at all, the lower bar has fallen out quite a while ago.

Thanks Mr T! You can make banners if you like haha.

Oi leave my roo bar alone!!! :P And i belive the lower bar has been rewelded infront of the grille to protect that area haha. I think its a good idea and it looks good. Youll have to redo my bar's welds Twinkles :)

Haha done deal. Every day brings another reason to invest into a MIG haha.

Oi Twinklz, i've got bullbar plans to discuss with you on the weekend! Remind me if you can :)
