G'day all,

Pending me having the water pump replaced in Ruby Scoo I'm looking at a 4 day trip out to Walhalla.

dates: Arrive late Friday April 4th or early Saturday 5th (I'm looking at 4th). Depart arvo of Tuesday April 8th.

meet point: Public camp area at the northern end of town

route: Haven't thought of one yet, or looked at a map - just keen to get to know the area HEAPS more over 4 days rather than trying to jam as much in a day or two as possible.

Looking for *at least* one other vehicle to come with as support/recovery as I'm not keen going solo.

You're welcome to join us mid trip although this would be super tricky I reckon.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Bennie

Me and my girlfriend will probably be up for it mate, just got to check uni/work

Im super keen but with no annual leave days I cant really do 4 days. I could do the Easter long weekend if you dont get the water pump in in time or just Friday night to Sunday night on the suggested weekend but that would probably be a bit of a rush.

would love to do this, but work is crazy at the moment and can't yet commit.

Hell yeah.

Does this mean you're in??

I'd heading up Dargo High Plains at Easter.

Aww, I wanted to see the new foz! Dargo high plains won't help us out in achieving this! If you end up on Basalt South Track let me know if it's been "switch backed" - basically zig zagged up the hill, it used to be straight down - fun but hairy in some sections, I over heated my brakes at one point - not fun at all! A great track but no hope of going up - too steep!

Easter's no good, got family commitments, and off the back of a family trip to Robe (Ruby Scoo-less :() I doubt I'll be allowed to get away for that last weekend before going back to school.

I'm in (provided I get my diff sorted by then).

Did you mean 5-8/4 or Easter which is the next weekend?

Nope, two weekends before Easter - the start of the school holidays!

Let us know mate! I'm only going on this trip if I know there's another vehicle involved - more fun that way plus it's not quite as risky as one vehicle.

Cheers

Sweet 8)

I'm about to order a new radiator; the water pump *should* be rocking up tomorrow - and I need to order some new front bushes as Ruby's "a little squeaky" at the moment...

Really looking forward to this trip - the snorkel needs some "testing" - but no submarine work ;)

Cheers

Not sure how deep we're gonna go lol, but it might be an idea to put an extension tube on your gearbox breather. Both Venom & myself got water in ours from the Wombat mud trip :(

Checked mine and it's free of water, got lucky i guess

I am amazed that you got it in your gearbox. None of the water was that deep and you never stopped. Very odd...

Hummm, I suppose I might check mine when I get a chance?

Rear or front diffs?

I got water in both! :shake:

Your rear diff should be ok as I cant remember you being stationary in deep enough water to suck it in. Have a look on your front diff dipstick but you should be ok I think. Does your AT have a breather?

The breather hose came out of the rear diff, so got some water in that way (replacing the plastic fitting which slips in with a brass fitting screwed in).

Only got a little in the gearbox., but enough to turn the oil slightly cloudy. I think when going through the water fast, it splashed upwards & into the dipstick cover, which is like a hat with breather channels in it. Bit hard to explain. Anyway, I'm going to do your mod of a section of hose fitting over the breather/dipstick tube & a fuel filter on the end.

Hope you changed the oil. If you can tell its slightly milky on the tiny sample of oil on the dipstick then its actually pretty bad...

On another note, looks like I wont be able to make it this time :( Hopefully I will head into the high country over Easter to make up for missing this one!!

I'm not sure if finances will allow me to make it at this stage... I'll have to see what happens by Friday. I'd hate to miss out though. I need to get back at that hill....

After purchasing plane tickets to japan, i do not think i'll be making it either
