ok ive had a look through some threads but not sure what to think.

i just got a very cheap set of 16" wheels, i will need new tyres for them and was wondering if 215/65/16 will work?

mine is a stock 98my sf.


or am i best going for 60 series tyres.

my originals where 205/70/15

yes they will work

215 65 16 has been fitted to stock sf. but if you plan on going any bigger you need to upgrade to sg rear struts
 
IMO its hard to beat the Yokohama Geolandar ATS G012. They have good grip onroad even when wet * good grip offroad too, esp on gravel roads. In mud the tread clogs up quickly but that will happen with any AT tyre. Good mileage too, I have 30,000kms on mine & still heaps of tread left. Good wheel alignment is the key to good tyre wear!

BFG - All Terrain T/A KO seem good too but cost a lot more.
 
I just put a set of General Grabber ATS 2's in this size on my impreza. It'll work on your forester.
