Hey guys,
Just wondering what you N/A guys are getting economy wise?
I've been getting around 400km's city driving and about 500 country driving.
Is this low?
Thanks in Advanced,

K's per tank is a but hard because how empty is the tank?

I drive from Como to Rockingham every day so 50/50 city and freeway driving and the best I have seen is 8.4l/100km normally in the 8.7-to 8.9l/100km . Funny thing is the 8.4l/100k is usually the tank or two immediately following a camping trip ie 300-400km on a country road towing a 600kg trailer. Towing the trailer at 100-110kmh I get about 9.5l/100km.

That is all on 91 fuel and with no correction for the speedo or odometer error the speedo reads low by about 6-8kmh depending on speed - dont know what the odo error is.

The car has Yokohama A drive tyres factory size at about 38psi. BTW that is without the roof racks if I have them I loose about 0.2l/100km

And as the footer says it is an 07 manual.

Hope that helps. I can give you more detail if you want.

I agree with Dave.

Flaming hard to work out fuel consumption without keeping accurate records over many tanks.

For a single tank estimate, one has to develop the right technique in filling the tank. This usually involves using the same pump at the same servo, and stopping the fill on either the first or second click. One also needs to listen to the fuel in the filler tube to check that the tank is filled to roughly the same level at each fill.

Records spanning many tanks will average out the inevitable fill errors.

After all that, I am averaging around 11.4L/100 kms in Roo2 over my total mileage (2.5L N/A 5MT/DR 2006 XS).

On the open road, I tend to get between around 7.3-7.8L/100 Kms (on cruise control; two adults, with a bit of excess weight in the vehicle; aero roof bars, no baskets; tyre pressures 35 psi; Michelin XM2 tyres).

These figures are derived from the individual fill records over about 10,000 Kms that I record in my vehicle log book. I record Date, Mileage, Odometer (then reset), Litres, Cost, Place, Misc in the log book on one page; service & maintenance records on the facing page.

I have kept accurate log books for all our vehicles since around the mid 1980s.

If it's like my 07 XT the true speed at an indicated 100km/h is 93km/h (according to my Garmin) but the true odo measurement at 100km is 98.7km. I'm running the stock 215/55 17 tyres that have almost identical rolling circumference to the 215/60 16 most likely found on stock X & XS models.

btw The true speed at an indicated 220km/h was 208km/h, so the accuracy improves a bit with increased speeds.

Hi Ratbag, we must be afflicted with the same OCD.....

I keep similar records to yours for both my cars although I also include the cost per L and also the type of fuel eg Shell98 or Caltex Vortex95. Except for the first 7,000km of the Forester's life which I didn't record and a few times when I have reluctantly loaned it to other family members (and they all know how much it means to me but it still doesn't stop me wondering how excited they have got with that turbo, especially my car mad youngest brother) my XT has averaged 9.44L/100km without the camper trailer and 11.45L/100km with the trailer. I dare not add up the cost column but I do know that one year our fuel bill came to $9400.

SWMBO would use that as a good excuse to head out and add to her already excessive wardrobe lol. Thank god the finances a generally left to me to look after and I just don't mention the expenses if I can.

Yep, this must be a common problem among Subaru owners. I have recorded the economy, total litres, kilometres and price from every single time that I've put fuel in the tank since getting my car. But I've only had the car a few of months.

I've used 340.93L
I've spent $437.15
I've done 3709.8Km
Overall average is 9.19L/100km

Around the suburbs I get a scarily consistent 8.19L/100Km
Country driving I get a less consistent 9.1-9.3L/100Km
And I can't really work out off-road economy.
